Great Holiday Movie!

If you have never seen this movie, run and buy or rent the newly released DVD. "We're No Angels" is a great holiday treat, worth watching anytime of the year. I always save it for the holdays, though. The ensemble cast, including Humphrey Bogart and the great Joan Bennett, help make this a warm, family favorite.

I couldn't agree more. We're No Angels will definitely become one of my Holiday Favorites! Loved Joan Bennett.

Favorite line: (Bogart) "I'm a crook,,,these are murderers".
Favorite character (unseen) Adolf the snake
Favorite moment: when the family gets together at the piano and Joan Bennett sings "Sentimental Moments" (my girlfriend gets teary eyed, and I think how life's been good)
Translation: Yessssssssss a great holiday movie !!

My favorite moment: Aldo Ray saying to Basil Rathbone, "You frighten me."

Or Jules bonking him on the head with the suitcase.

What's ironic about this film is that Bogie was born on December 25th.

Where are my cookies, bytch?

reply

I watch it every Christmas, right along with all the usual flicks, usually right before or after I watch Donovan's Reef.

reply

My favorite line is from Bogart, "We came here to rob them and that's what we're gonna do - beat their heads in, gouge their eyes out, slash their throats. Soon as we wash the dishes."

Wish Bogie had done more comedy. "All Through the Night" is enjoyable too, in more of a slapstick way.

reply

I totally agree. Bogart was great at comedy, or more likely at being ironic. Just a great actor who left us too soon.

Several years ago, I was looking through the TV listings and saw "We're No Angels. However, I thought it was the Sean Penn/Robert DeNiro film of the eighties. Well I started to watch the movie, quickly realizing it wasn't the movie I was expecting. Well I was hooked within the first couple of minutes. What a charming film. It's on my watch list every Christmas season. By the way, I still haven't seen the other one since that time.

If this film does not melt your heart, you have no heart.

Watching the DVD right now; great print of the film. I've been a classic movie buff for many years but only caught up with "Angels" a year or two ago after finding the DVD on sale at Big Lots, I believe. Very pleasant movie with a wonderful cast and just the right light tone; also, unusual for a holiday movie, a slight touch of menace is found among all the charm.
