Parrish's fiancee

My god was that woman annoying! He was lucky to be rid of her clingy behind.

reply

I agree with you. But she was very pretty too ... So it is difficult for a man to give her up.

But when his fiancee says that you make it sound like the war was the biggest part of your life well yeah it was only the Civil War! And the line from her drunk ex boyfriend. You will do anything to get a train ticket out east was another great line.

"He was lucky to be rid of her clingy behind."

For me it was just a case of when is it going to happen.

reply

Yeah she was. Judith was the worst though. Admonishing Parrish for selling out and not fighting (against her father), and then admonishing him when he ultimately does stand his ground.

You saw Dingleberries?

All four women in this movie were possessive ( Martha, Judith, Elena and Caroline). That said, the only one might consider ending up with is Judith. Martha and Elena are the types that could cause you to end up dead, and a life with Caroline would cause almost anyone to want to drink. The other thing is this the only one who is not a coward is Judith. She rode back to the ranch with Parrish ( Glenn Ford) and her father, while Martha tried to sneak after her lover Cole is killed by Parrish.,she then got ambushed by Elena ( again cowardly), and Caroline was basically afraid of everyone and everything which is why she wanted out of town.

reply

Martha and Caroline were manipulators. The bottom line was what they wanted.
