user comment and music

The user comment review has the line "It also might be Jack Lemmon's first film too." Jack Lemmon's first film was It Should Happen to You, released the year before Three for the Show.

What I recall mostly about this movie was the effect the opening music, George Gershwin's Someone to Watch Over Me, had on myself. I knew about George and Ira Gershwin before seeing this film and had heard some of their music. But when I listened to Someone to Watch Over Me, it was beautiful and made me fall in love with their work.

Jack Lemmon agreed with me. He, Fred Astaire and Leslie Uggams did a great tribute to the Gershwins in a television special.

It Should Happen to You (1954) was the film that got Jack Lemmon recognised. Technically, his first film debut was in The Lady Takes A Sailor (1949) as a plasterer/paintor.

I have to agree with you. The musical numbers in this film are fabulous. My favourites are "I've Got A Crush On You", "Down Boy" and "How Come You Do Me Like You Do"? This is a great little film. I hope it gets released on DVD.
