Does anyone know if Jimmy was wearing his own medals when in dress uniform?

No. He was wearing his character's medals. Here are General Stewart's medals, as posted on Wikipedia:

Thanks. Next time I watch the movie I'll have to take a freeze frame if there is a close enough shot to identify what they made up for him.

No idea what that has to do with OPs question, but yes she was a royal pain in the rear in this movie.

Maybe one of the medals was for being married to her.

No more so than as Alan Ladd's whiny wife in "The McConnell Story". Not that Ladd was any prize viz-a-viz that film. He neither looked nor talked like the real Joe and he was absolutely terrified of airplanes. Robert Stack would've been a much better choice. Regardless, both movies are magnificent paeans to the then-fledgling USAF and are must-haves for any military aviation buff.
