Where is the DVD of SMOKE SIGNAL?

Universal, when can we expect to see a newly remastered DVD of SMOKE SIGNAL on the market, any time soon?

The film is currently playing on ENCORE Westerns channel. Nice copy.

Thanks. I am a close personal friend of actor Rex Reason, who played Lt. Ford in this movie, who got thrown over a rock cliff (well it was really a dummy and not him!) This was his third picture at Universal, made just prior to his famous role in THIS ISLAND EARTH (1955).

I just watched "Smoke Signal" and don't agree with the reviewer who said that this western would be average. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can recommend it. Gorgeous outdoors cinematography and Dana Andrews in a really good role. I wish there would be more westerns like this.

For me it's right up there together with "Bend of the River" (James Stewart), "Rocky Mountain" (Errol Flynn) and "Saskatchewan" (Alan Ladd).

I didn't see all of the movie. But I did see Milburn Stone as the Sergeant Miles character get thrown off the cliff. I took Rex Reason to be the tall Lieutenant Ford. But I didn't see what happened to him. Facially, he reminded me of another actor called Stewart Granger.

And it just ran again today on Encore Western Channel. Yes, nice copy and uncut it appears; using running time as a check on this. I was pleasantly surprised at how good this film. It is definitely above average. And notice the reviews that are presented here. I think at least half completely missed the message that was brought across in the story...mainly by Piper Laurie being the voice the voice of conscience and reason as well as the example set by the D. Andrews character against racism, brutality, war, etc. This movie had a lot to say that seems missed by some people who may only be looking at it as a western action film. That was good also, but there was a strong philosophical message; not to mention the great location photography.
