remake?

In the early 80s, when cable TV was just getting underway and I didn't have a VCR to tape films ,I saw a remake of Shack Out On 101. A friend of a friend who was working as a researcher for a film encyclopedia had no data about this and doubted its existence. However I saw this and from what I remember it was a late 60s or early 70s TV movie type thing self consciously in an "homage" mode. Does anybody else know anything about it?

This thing is a white trash classic and needs no remake. If somebody is stupid enuff to do it, it better be a musical with Raf Vallone, Grace Jones and/0r Richard Dreyfus. If some of them aren't alive no more, more's the better.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

No movie "needs" a remake. Nothing at all wrong with 'em, though.
