"Serio-comic" might be the best way to describe Hope's performance as Eddie Foy. But Bob Hope was terrific in "The Seven Little Foys," no two ways about it!

I wonder if the real Foy was as flippant/sardonic in his everyday private life as Hope portrayed him?

Since I didn't think Hope was all that funny in his comic roles, this is
probably my favorite of his films. His dramatic role here is funnier than his
comedic ones.

Was questioned if Eddy Foy was like this in real life I was wondering the same thing. I'm sure with Bob Hopes background in Vaudvill he might have knowen him personaly. But I agree this is one of my favorite Bob Hope movies.

I got the impression that Bob Hope was giving the comedy an almost offhand and deadpan quality. To give the film a biopic feel. I just think it was a view of a comedian's life. Rather than being hilarious for it's own sake. It's probably the only dramatic role I've seen Bob Hope play to date. He does it well.
