STOLEN cars in the "Chickie-Run"

Where was it explained or even hinted at that the cars they drove were stolen? Also, highschoolers like them stealing cars is rich.

They never said stolen but told Buzz 'look what we've got for ya' (or close to that). Stealing cars in the 50's, especially a bunch of kid like that, was a snap. Called 'hot wiring'.

When Jim goes home after the "Chickie Run" he tells his parents he was driving a stolen car.

Those cars were easy to start without a key. All you needed was to look behind the dashboard and jump across a couple of terminals on the back of the ignition switch with a short wire. Juvenile delinquents did it all the time. I stole the wheels off a parked car once, when I was sixteen. I just needed to borrow them for a few hours. When I was finished with them, I re-installed them on the parked car, and the owner never knew.
