L Turner DID make numerous remakes: Rains, Imitation, Three Musketeers, Jekyll & Hyde. She was AWESOME in Postman Rings Twice.
Movie girl: Many of these wonderful movies of the 30's and 40's are hard to
re-make, but The Rains of Ranchipur is such a re-telling of the story. The wonderful nature of the story is more fully captured in the original.
The cast is excellent and the acting is well-done, but I love the original film best. The special effects were well-done in the original and watching the romance develop was a moving and spiritual experience. The ending is different and tragic.
Both Lana Turner and Roichard Burton were excellent in the remake which I am re-watching today.
