Am I the only one who feels sorry for Eva (SPOILERS)

Just watched this on TCM. I couldn't help but feel a little sad at the end. She really seemed to be sincerely falling in love with her husband again. She seemed truly to have changed. We see evidence of this in the way that she resists accepting a ride from Jud, an opportunity which the old Eva would have jumped all over. Even though she was skeptical at first, I also believe that she was genuinely convinced her husband had fallen in love with her again. Right before she and Jud have their death struggle on the road, she says, "I don't believe you, my husband loves me, you're the one who wants to kill me." Her first thought is not that she is about to die, but to reaffirm the love she so desperately needs to believe is true. While I wouldn't necessarily shy away from her going out in a fiery wreck earlier in the film, I don't believe she deserved what she got by the end.

You're not the only one---I felt bad for her too and the whole time they were struggling in the car, I was panicking a bit, cause I didn't want to see them die.

I both agree and disagree with this. I actually sympathized with her throughout the whole film. Sure, she may have been a Queen Bee, as it were, but it was very easy for me to see why someone might be that way. If she had a choice, I'm sure she would have chosen peace, happiness, and joy, so as not to feel the anger, envy, and lashing out. But, after all, people don't choose their hearts.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

Spoilers:

Eva didn't like to lose, and chose a disturbing way to achieve it. She hurt the people who tried to love her. I also believe she wanted love, but confused it with being worshipped and adored. She changed when she believed her husband wanted her again. It's hard to tell if she loved Avery. Her comment about his scar seemed shallow. But if she never learned how to love, she couldn't give it.
She did question if Avery was being honest. And I wondered how she believed it. I saw no warmth in his caresses. But if she was starving for affection, she wouldn't question it. You are also right about matters of the heart.

If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world

Maybe I shouldn't feel this way...but I think Eva got just what she deserved! Remember.....what goes around comes around.

The way she taunted Carol.....Beauty's sister; and drove her to suicide....I knew she had some 'get back' coming. I actually thought Beauty was going to shoot her when he was loading his gun; but glad he out-smarted her.

Clever writing...the way they actually portrayed her demise...Perfect!
