Mommie Dearest could be a sequel to this...

Anyone else think that the producers, the directors, and Faye Dunaway herself overdosed on watching this movie in preparation for Mommie Dearest? It seems this may be the ONLY Joan movie Faye viewed and the director seems to have used similar camera angles...notably, the part where Faye is walking down the floating staircase with the uneaten meat just like Joan walking down the floating staircase in Queen Bee before going out. I don't know, lots of similarities though.

The temper tantrum in Carol's room was similar to the no wire hangers scene. The way she spread cold cream on her vanity mirror remined me of the scenes in Mommie Dearest with cold cream or lotion on her face. The make-up, the heavy eyebrows, the over-all look.

You know me. I'm the same as you. It's two in the morning and I don't know nobody.

I seem to remember Christina mentioning QUEEN BEE in the book as an accurate reflection of Life With Joan.

A bit - but who can forget that scene in Mommie Dearest with Joan in Madonna Blue, standing on the landing, with matching draperies, holding Christina!

I love how Eva strides confidently down the stairs - seems to be something that Crawford mastered over the years. She had excellent posture and great presence which also made her appear a bit taller than she really was.

Joan Crawford was amazing, working for so many years when so many others were overlooked after a few years. Joan was a woman who knew what she wanted, and seemed to find a way to get it.

Think it was a shame that Christina's book soured so many against her mother.

No. Mommie Dearest made me love Joan even MORE!

Question: Didn't Joan Crawford have an insistance of wanting to be filmed from certain way? Like one side of her face she felt was better than the other side?

Christina said this was the film where Joan played to closest to her actual self, such that Christina couldn't watch it.
