Two Chairs and a Table - Excellent Movie
I took my girlfriend to see this movie in 1955 (or 1956). It was a hot summer afternoon and there were only 4 or 5 people in the theater in Halifax, Nova
Scotia. Acting superb by Guiness and Hawkins, the plot intellectually stimulating
an if my memory serves me correctly, the set consisted of a table and two chairs
in the jail cell.
Yes, Wilfrid Lawson is memorable as the jailer - he almost stole the show but
impossible with Alec Guiness and Jack Hawkins starring.
As I recall, the theater was empty at the movie's end except for my girlfriend
and me - she had fallen asleep. We married the next year.
Nevertheless, this is an outstanding movie and a must-see if you want to see
psychological warfare between the Church and a totalitarian state.
I forget the ending, but no matter.
I hope to see this movie again sometime, somewhere !!!
