Holden Novak Dance is Greatest Romantic Scene in History

not just because of them but because of the hauntingly beautiful music--the scene is actually ironic because the two stars disliked each other intensely

I thought so too, so hauntingly sexy, which brings up a point: would Holden have been a better choice as John Ferguson in "Vertigo" ? Second best romantic scene:
them being amorous in the woods while the freight train rolls close by...a classic !

Not in my view. Holden seems too old for this part. He was 37 in this film but the character is supposed to be mid to late 20s. Novak is soooooo wooden in this. Her character has so little dialogue but Novak just looks frozen and expressionless all the time.

I do love that theme music though.

I know, what is it about that dance? It's kind of awkward, but it's still sexy. Their chemistry is good, whether you think Holden is old or not. They are riveting in this dance.
