Question on an expression used

Hello,

This movie was adapted for the radio, too, it seems.

In the radio adaptation, the expression "Wednesday Weekend" was used. Can an older person familiar with this expression please explain what it means?

I guess it was a once-common expression that has since dropped out of use. [shrugs]
