Does Ella Fitzgerald have a speaking role in this movie, or is she just featured as a singer? Ella is my favorite favorite, and if she's an *actress* in this one, I'll do my best to try to find it ...

Yes she does have a few lines, one of the songs she sings is "Hard Hearted Hanna".

Ella does speak in the movie. Her lines are very few, but spoken in that same soft, melodic voice that make her songs so memorable. She's one of my favorites also.
