Do you think this was an accurate portrayal of Bhadralok families?

The family are living in poverty but the father hasn't lost his love of theatre. Also, there seems to be an interest in the son's education. Also, they still seem to be a traditional family in many ways, such as their plans to make sure the daughter can marry into a good family.

No aware of its exact accuracy, though it does give a realistic representation of poor families. After all Pather Panchali was influenced by Italian Neo-Realism. Pather Panchali's aesthetics and narrative events was a result of this influence.

Just watched this with a Bangladeshi friend and he was constantly waxing lyrical about how similar the depiction was to his memories of his own early upbringing (Though he was from Sylhet Division, so less trees and also muslim).

I can only assume it's pretty accurate. It was also wonderful cinema!
