Spanish Dance in The Gadfly

I am performing Shostakovich's "Spanish Dance" (aka "Folk Festival" or "Fair") from The Gadfly and I would like to give my students a little bit of information about what is happening in the movie when this piece is playing. It will help their interpretation of the music and help them become better musicians!

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure that there's a "Spanish Dance" in OVOD, since the story is set in Italy and not in Spain. However, you can check the entire movie by yourself on YouTube, starting from this video:
