Mr. Boynton

I saw the movie today ! Cute, but where was the radio Mr. Boynton ? Jeff Chandler played the original Mr. Boynton on radio and he was absolutely gorgeous ! I was a big fan of the radio show, but never really followed the TV series. Robert Rockwell is nice, but I was so used to the fantastic voice of Jeff Chandler that I just couldn't relate. As for Don Porter, he played Ann Sothern's boss in Private Secretary, and that's how I remember him.

Drooling over ghosts, ehh? So fabulous.

Life's like that, isn't it? Undercooked then over-baked and finally insipient.

What a nasty thing to say. You should be ashamed.

At the time of the film, Bob Rockwell had been cast in the radio series a good while & then had been star of the Our Miss Brooks television series alongside Eve Arden, so Jeff Chandler wouldn't have been in it as the movie came out in 1956, which had also been the same year the show went off the air.

I completely agree about Jeff Chandler being gorgeous. I first saw him in Return To Peyton Place (1961), then Female on the Beach & The Tattered Dress & have always found him to be really handsome. And he had a sexy, commanding voice to boot.

I'm also a huge Bob Rockwell fan & find him equally handsome & distinguished, so it didn't bother me at all when Bob Rockwell was recast as Mr. Boynton in the radio series. I couldn't tell their voices apart, actually, so it worked beautifully. Though, when I put more emphasis on their voices, Jeff Chandler's is a bit deeper. I could gaze at both Chandler & Rockwell for hours. Two very handsome men.

As for Don Porter, I thoroughly enjoyed him in both Private Secretary & Gidget. So it was a treat seeing him in the Our Miss Brooks film. I've also found him to be incredibly good looking.
