Mr. Arkadin on TCM Tomorrow... which version will be shown?

does anyone know which version of the movie will be shown on tcm tomorrow night?

reply

I believe the version TCM is showing is the "Confidential Report" cut which is the same version they showed last May during their Welles Month. While this version is included in the new Criterion box set, it's the one furthest from Welles' intentions (although I feel it's an improvement over the wretched public domain version of "Mr. Arkadin" which was not included in the box set).

shouldnt they show the acclaimed "corinth version"? the one that was restored by peter bogdanovich? the one they say is the true welles picture. i was hoping for that one...

According to their website its the 93 minute version. Corinth is 99 min. and Cofidential report is 98 min. soooo, maybe it's the public domain version? I dunno, maybe someone more informed on the films history could tell you which version it would be.

Jesus didn't cut the grass, he just got all melodramatic and martyrific and sat in it

So the credits said Confidential Report just to confirm that appears to be the TCM version.
