Did Arkadin really die in the end?
At the start of the movie we see an empty plane and there is not a corpse.
What's said in the beginning of the movie, about a plane flying with no one inside, is the only remotely interesting aspect of the movie. Unfortunately, after being lured in, we hear nothing more about it until the very end of the movie. Even then, we're never given an explanation. I felt totally deceived!

Uh, did you pay any attention to the movie? We're absolutely given an explanation: Arkadin commits suicide by jumping out of the plane.

He could have had a parachute and made a mysterious escape, never to be seen again. That's OP's point here.
