Man with a Gun and Spartacus

Did anyone notice that some of the themes Alex North used in his "Man with a Gun" score he used again in "Spartacus?" Not usual for film composers to do this- Alfred Newman reworked some of his score from the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" for "The Robe" - interesting.

Yes!!! I noticed this myself, but I couldn't place the film. When Jan Sterling begins to suspect the trap, the background music is the same that is used when Olivier's character tricks Spartacus into revealing himself, just before his fight with Tony Curtis' character. Thank you! It was bothering me at the time I was watching this western.

I'm watching the movie right now on Turner Classic movies and noticed too that North reused parts of this for SPARTACUS.

When Mitchum sets the saloon on fire, North gives us a prequel to the "Gladiators fight to the Death" cue on the Spartacus OST. I think it's orchestrated a little fuller in Man With the Gun.
