Strange Vessel?

More esoteric, technical question: At the beginning of the movie, during the opening credits showing the port scenes, there's a brief shot of a strange vessel crossing the harbor. It looks like floating cage(!), might have cars on it, could be some sort of ferry? Anybody have any ideas (someone from Scotland might know)?
