The old prospector

Did they use two different actors to play both TLR and the old prospector?

I know for the story, TLR is disguised as the old guy a couple of times, but is it actually Clayton Moore?

Their heights are different when talking to the Governor. I know the old guy is a bit bent over etc, but when he stands in front of the governor, he appears to be standing straight and the top of his head comes up to the Governors nose bridge. Yet the Lone Ranger is almost eye to eye with the governor when he meets him.

Just wondering

Moore is definitely the Old Prospector. He performed the character several times in the TV series. what shoes/boots he was wearing, floor slant---lots of things could account for the perceived height variations.

I was just watching this today, and my buddy was with me. He had never seen the Lone Ranger show (and he's 47, 5 years older than I am) and he was saying the same thing. I kept reassuring him that it was the same actor, but he kept going on about the height.

One thing I pointed out is that as the prospector, he's wearing baggy clothing, on top of crouching down some. As the Lone Ranger, he wears tight fighting clothing, which gives off the appearance of being taller.

I saw Clayton Moore when he was in Chicago in 1979. When asked, he showed how bowed his legs to get down to the "old geezer" size. He said that he was able to get his height down to five feet nine inches (from 6'1").

Thank you all for clarifying that for me.

Cant wait to see the movie again sometime.

That costume is more effective than I thought. lol.

I never noticed that bending his legs made him appear shorter. I just thought it was meant to imply that he was brittle and had bad legs.

It was good how he buckled himself down at the knees. What was more amazing was a minute later he appears outside in his tight-fitting Lone Ranger outfit. He was certainly a quick-change artist.
