Even if he and Consuelo are reunited in Houston's camp at the end of the movie, and they go on to get married after Texas wins its independence, he's got to know that for Consuelo, he's always going to be a consolation prize; the Silver Medal; the Fall-Back Guy. I hope on their honeymoon she didn't cry out Bowie's name at a "delicate moment."

JEB: What did you say--'JIM'??

CONSUELO: "No, I said 'Jeb!'"

JEB: It sure sounded like--

CONSUELO: No, no! I said 'Jeb'! You must have mis-heard when you were climaxing.
