Peter Sellers is a 'Teddy Boy'

Peter Sellers wears the trademark 'Teddy Boy' velvet collar. I am not an expert on British sub-cultures, but I understand this is full of inside jokes and little touches of the period.

Teddy boys with their Edwardian inspired coats were the emerging sub culture at the time.

I actually caught that the second time I saw the movie (I was about 17, I think). I'd come across references to Teddy boys and their velvet collars. It's a great character touch for Harry/Peter Sellers!
