According to film preservationist Robert Harris, "Warner's has performed yeoman-like work on Kismet. It's from a new IP, derived from the camera original, and the color is astounding."

Sounds like it's a great transfer; I've already ordered my copy!

Just got it. Yes, it looks and sounds great.

It just reminds you of the many, many bad decisions made regarding the production of the film, mainly the bastardasation of the original score. If only the filmmakers of the 50's could just have trusted the quality of the original songs, we'd have a much better representation of the golden age of Broadway from the 50's.

Mainly I'm dissapointed with Kismet, Kiss Me Kate, Bells are Ringing, Brigadoon, and Finian's Rainbow. Somehow Oklahoma, King and I, South Pacific, and Carousel made it out pretty intact...

Any objections???

reply

Objection! Without Bells Are Ringing there would be no record of Judy Holliday's charmingly wonderful performance.
