goof? writer's mistake?

I've replayed it several times to make sure I got it right. The robber tells Haj that 15 years ago, that's fifteen, he put a curse on him and shortly after his son was kidnapped. The Wazir was probably in his 30's 15 years ago. I always thought it should have been 50 years ago. I even read it in closed caption to see if I misheard it. Otherwise it's one of my favorite movies and I love the music! I Tivo'd it and watch it often.

Yeah, I think he's supposed to be younger.

Even if we're very generous and the Wazir is supposed to be somewhere between 25 and 35, 15 years still doesn't make any sense because that would have put him in the age bracket of 10-20 years old. Too old to not remember who his father is.

reply

Not sure why it was revised to 15 years. In the original play (1911) it was 25 years

Hitchcock to Bergman: "Oh, Ingrid, it's only a movie."
