Was Davy flipping himself the bird??


In the opening moments, we see Davy in his apartment, closely examining his face in the mirror, rubbing his middle finger first over his right eyebrow, then slowly down to the tip of his nose, where he lingers for a good few seconds, holding his hand in what appeared to be a full-on "flip the bird" gesture with said middle finger.

Couldn't help but notice it, it just seemed so jarring to watch. But as I watched the story unfold, I thought back on that image, and felt that maybe it was a symbolic gesture - a subtle physical expression of his feeling of worthlessness, since his boxing career was all but kaput at this point. But then again, maybe a middle finger is just a middle finger...
