Fight scene familiarity

Is it just me or is the final fight scene quite reminiscent of Akira Kurosawa's Rashomon? It doesn't try to glorify or romanticize fighting it just shows it for what it really is, a couple of guys falling all over the place getting tired swinging and missing; scared for their lives until one slips and takes the final fall.

Which fight? The one that seemed realistic or the one had all the glory you would hear of? Anyway, I thought it reminded me of Raging Bull.

Definitely. I believe Kubrick has stated publicly that he admired that movie, he more than likely used it for inspiration. I thought it was cool. Great use of the camera throughout the movie as well, as you would expect.

I thought the final fight sequence was profoundly unrealistic and I gave the film one less star based solely on that.
