Not very PC, either now ... or probably then!

This whole movie was pretty dumb. I had a good laugh at how Howard Keel could sing a song while he is standing on this shaky seat on top of an elephant. Some of the songs about how Hannibal and his soldiers are going to ransack Rome were in pretty bad taste; they reminded me of "Springtime for Hitler." The treatment of women, specifically Williams' character, was not very nice at times either, and I'm wonder if the SPCA was squawking about the scenes where a horse fell into a tank (supposed to be the ocean) as well as other scenes where "boiling oil" was poured all over elephants who were outside the gates of Rome. 
