I detected some similarities.....family ranch in the mountains etc and wondered if this was a like a template for the later tv series, Bonanza.
Surely some inspiration at least.

I always thought of Broken Lance (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046808/) was the real inspiration for Bonanza. Check it out.

If we all liked the same movie, there'd only be one movie!
