Was this the first movie ever.....

The Golden Gate Bridge is arguably the most attacked landmark in movies. Countless science fiction movies have had it either destroyed or badly damaged. Was this the first? I cannot think of an earlier movie where the Golden Gate Bridge was attacked?

Might have been. The bridge was only about seventeen years old when this movie was made.

Other landmarks in movies I've seen destroyed more than once: the Capitol Records building in Hollywood, the White House, and Stonehenge.

The Landmark most often destroyed in the movies might have been the National Diet Building in Tokyo, Japan.

there have been many Japanese movies about giant monsters in the last 70 years, and the National Diet Building has been destroyed in many of them.
