They don't say! It almost seems like they're setting him up to marry his former assistant/client, but it's left ambiguous. Weird ending to a fantastic movie - 9/10.

Two of the user reviews assume that he is mortally wounded but I agree - it's left unresolved.

I think he lived, though I think Shane made it too at the end.
