Who will remember Susan Hayward?

It's an oldie! But who cares! I'm a Hayward fan since I was a teenager. And I love to watch it again and again, sometimes. I read somewhere that there is a colorized version of it. Would like to see this very much! Where could I get one copy? No actress before or after her has ever been able to express emotions on screen with so great intensity. No one! I've watch a lot of her movies and there are still some I haven't seen. Pleasure ahead. I read somewhere what she felt about Death: "When you're dead, you're dead! Who will remember you!" Well, she would be very surprised to realize there are a lot of admirers who DO remember her... R.I.P. Susan!

I will never forget Susan Hayward...there had never been anyone onscreen quite like her, before or since. She and Lana Turner did the long-suffering heroine thing better than any actresses in the business and I'LL CRY TOMORROW was one of her best...a little bit on the melodramatic side, but that was what Susan did best. A brilliant talent who will always be remembered.

I don't think anyone ever delivered a zinger like Susan Hayward!

There are some of us out here who remember when class acts such as Miss Hayward ruled the movie business. Watch TCM and "Cry for Today".

Who could ever forget Susan Hayward - the greatest STAR of all time. I have adored her for fifty six years and am fortunate to have a copy of all of her feature films which I never tire of watching. I'LL CRY TOMORROW is my favourite of all her films and I have both the regular and colourized versions.

There has never been anyone to match her acting ability and as jolypm says, nobody able to express such intensity on screen. She was simply the BEST and is so sadly missed. I play the soundtrack music almost every day and it is a delight to hear, particularly Susan singing the version of I'll Cry Tomorrow. How Anna Magnani ever won that Oscar over Susan is a question a lot of fans would like answered. I saw The Rose Tattoo and couldn't believe it was a winner! Susan should also have won for "Smash-Up" in my opinion and of course I Want To Live really displayed her talent and she rightly received the Oscar.

There will never be anyone like Susan Hayward - she certainly made her mark on the world with her stunning beauty, acting talent, charisma and her amazing courage during her long illness. She will never be forgotten and I am proud to be counted as one of her fans.

To Caugusto6: Fantastic! Incredible! Very encouraging for the artists!
Vraiment incroyable! Bravo! Bravissimo! See her in I Want To Live and
all of her other films! I just can't believe it! I am just adding that I LOVED Anna Magnani in The Rose Tattoo. She is also one of my favorites! Her voice, specially her laugh, deep, deep from the heart and soul. She dubbed herself the movie in French and her accent was absolutely marvelous. IrremplaƧable! Have you seen her in Made in Italy? From Nanni Loy? Unforgettable!
She plays this mother who is looking after her kid who has crossed the street in a big traffic... it is something to see. The best part of the movie.

Remeber Susan Hayward? Yes indeed!

I wish she were still around lending her much-needed talent to films.

Throughout its history, the Academy has given awards to undeserving people. Politics and prejudice play a large part; a number of Academy voters had never even seen the nominated films and performances.
Case in point: Liza Minnelli won the Oscar for Best Actress of 1972 when the truly best performance was from Cicely Tyson in SOUNDER.
I'm sure you posters can think up other examples.

NOBODY WHO HAS EVER SEEN HER WILL EVER FORGET HER. I HAVEN'T, AND I FIRST SAW HER 56 YEARS AGO. I WAS JUST A KID WHO SAW "WITH A SONG IN MY HEART," AND I FOLLOWED HER CAREER SINCE THEN. WHO COULD NOT BE MOVED BY HER PERFORMANCES IN THAT FILM, AND HER MANY OTHERS WHERE DRAMA, POIGNANCY, COURAGE AND FORTITUDE WERE REQUIRED? SHE DID IT ALL WITH HER TALENT, THOSE BEAUTIFUL EYES AND UNFORGETTABLE VOICE. SHE WAS A WOMAN WHO WOULDN'T BE COWED BY THE MOVIE INDUSTRY MOGULS, AND SHE WORKED TO PROVE HER WORTH. THERE ISN'T ONE OF HER MANY FANS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD (INCLUDING BARBY 3, WHOM I KNOW) WHO DOESN'T MISS HER AND WATCH HER WHENEVER THEY CAN. AS LONG AS THERE IS FILM, THERE WILL BE THOSE OF US WHO LOVE SUSAN HAYWARD. WE LOST HER TOO EARLY, BUT WE HAD SO MUCH OF HER WHILE SHE WAS HERE.

I have read all the comments and they are all very interesting. Don't know why but, suddenly, I am just thinking of this: once, a reporter asked her what is was like to be a star: her reply was quite realistic and surprising: "It's hard work! Nothing but hard, hard work!" It "deglamorizes" completely the moviedom.
