There's a compelling story behind it

Fascinating to see this iteration of the characters I know from Cabaret. Bowles in particular - the essence is there, but of course this version gets away with her refusal to face facts. Julie Harris did a fine job. The movie isn't great - the comedy in particular doesn't work for me, but it offers more than less literary work. Certainly more interesting than any film I've seen that was released this year.

It makes me want to read the book. The title is particularly interesting to me, with its implications of objectivity while clearly delivering a moral message.
