Album

Is there anyplace that this album is available?

I don't think there is. If anyone finds one that is the soundtrack for this film and not from any broadway rendition, please let us know.

I actually think I saw one on Amazon where they had the original Broadway and as a bonus they had the movie version. I don't know if it's still in print, though.

I have been looking around for a copy for a while and I finally found one!!!! It appears to have all the tracks from the film, including overtures and instrumental sections. I ordered a copy and will post a review here when I get it.

I found a partial soundtrack album years ago as an import from England. One side has 4 songs from "Guys and Dolls, while the other side has excerpts from "Call Me Madam". By the way, it is on vinyl.

yeah i bought that CD from Amazon as well.
it's good, and i'm glad I got it.
but it's not an 'official' soundtrack.
the songs were pulled from the DVD.
and you can hear sound effects.
plus the CD booklet mispells take back your mink,
it says on there take back your mind.
and the person who distrubited this.
disses Marlon horribly.
which personaly makes me mad,
he calls him tone deaf in each description of the song he sings.
i'm glad i bought it, because it's nice to have a CD of the soundtrack,
seeing as this is the only one we'll be able to ever get.
since most of the original recordings were destroyed years ago
-i think three were saved and put on the soundtrack-
but i think theres 4 used ones left :]

hit him again smitty!

There's also a different CD:

I have the one that you mention, Chelsayo. It annoys me too with the booklet. Although there is some good trivia bits (like how Vivian Blaine almost walked out of the audition for the Broadway production!), there are WAY too many typos, and I don't like the way the writer disses the movie (which I think is excellent). Still, I'm glad to have it.

Interesting. But one point I would make based on the review from that page, the writer says "The mono sound is very clean". My comment is why would they release this in mono when the soundtrack on the film is quite obviously stereo.

I now know where the makers of the first CD got their liner notes from:

I actually have the original Broadway cast album from 1950; it was my parents' and I have many fond memories from my childhood of listening to all these wonderful songs and singing along with my mother. I saw a wonderful stage production of the musical today so I got out the record and it actually sounds pretty good - all things considered - on my turntable!
