I have also just watched it for the first time and thought that Jean Simmons sounded like Audrey Hepburn, but in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" or "Funny Face", where you hear her real voice, not "My Fair Lady", which was dubbed by Marni Nixon (I think)
shareI'm watching it now or the first time in about 12 years and I was just thinking the exact same thing. Glad I'm not the only one.
shareYes,kathleen, it was Marni Nixon who dubbed Audrey Hepburn's singing voice in My Fair Lady, just as she dubbed Deborah Kerr's in The King and I and Natalie Wood in West Side Story.
But in Guys and Dolls, Jean Simmons did her own signing... or so the story goes.
Not only does she sound like Audrey Hepburn but you're beginning to sound quite a bit like her, too.
shareAudrey Hepburn sounded nothing like Jean Simmons. Listen to Audrey singing (really singing for herself - not dubbed) on the soundtrack of Funny Face (1957) and Moon River from Breakfast At Tiffany's (1961) [the soundtrack album - she doesn't sing on the Henry Mancini version].
Big difference.
maybe a little
so many movies, so little time
how dare you disgrace the name of Audrey Hepburn!!!
Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.
