OSCAR NOMINATION for JENNIFER JONES....

Jennifer should have gotten a oscar nomination for this film, she is so amazing in it.

I agree with you 1000%. Jennifer Jones as Miss Dove was the embodiment of a teacher years ago. She gave a superb performance. Ironically, that same year, 1955, she was nominated for "Love is A Many Splendored Thing." That 1955 year was some year. Doris Day didn't get nominated for "Love Me or Leave Me." Anna Magnani won for "The Rose Tattoo." Susan Hayward lost for "I'll Cry Tomorrow." I'll never understand that one.

I agree 1000%. She totally captured the part of the stern, but loving spinster schoolteacher. How remarkable she was there. She received an Oscar bid that year for "Love is A Many Splendored Thing," but I felt she was better in 'Dove.' Of course, Anna Magnani, the winner that year for "Rose Tattoo," got a gift because nominee Susan Hayward, "I'll Cry Tomorrow." LOST.
