A Great Movie

Just enjoyed watching this movie on our free to air channel GEM (90). Loved the scenes of the Melbourne Olympics. Token scene of arriving in Sydney. Loved that showing Sydney 60 years ago, nothing like it now. Was Bill Travers married to Virginia McKenna then? They usually team up in movies.

I agree.

The 1956 Sydney skyline, with the 'coat-hanger' taking centre-stage was a magnificent shot, and would have universally shown to all and sundry where the location was.

However, three seconds later, we see a street-scene from Melbourne, which - in those days - was a 12-hour (plus) journey southwards from Sydney.

It would have been prudent to have a sub-title, indicating that the view had shifted cities.

Oh well, it probably means very little these days.

A NICE film, however.
