Last Movie Filmed in Technicolor?

Believe I heard that on the TCM documentary "Glorious Technicolor".

According to the trivia for this film, it was the last movie shot in three strip Technicolor. This process used a camera that ran three strips of film simultaneously. The image was divided and strips of b&w film were exposed to light through red, green, and blue filters respectively. These cameras required lots of light, and dealing with three filmstrips was cumbersome. If I remember correctly, the b&w strips were tinted their respective colors. When projected together, they gave a color image; a clever, though problematic, solution. Technicolor continued for several years, using a dye transfer process.

Very interesting, thanks; makes sense they filmed it in the desert of California and Arizona, needing lots of light.

It certainly is an absolutely beautiful movie to look at, in addition to be a quite underrated one.

Positively correct. FOXFIRE was the last movie ever filmed in 3-Strip Technicolor. This process was used and available from 1933 to 1955.
