At about 24 minutes in, Renee, who nudges people weighing their gold dust to make them spill some of it tells Rube to move his feet while giving him a nudge. Rube tells her "ain't no use nudging my elbow. There's no dust in my poke." She responds "if there were I wouldn't budge it anyway." And they both chuckle. Great little read-between-the-lines moment. There's no other way to interpret that
scene. Just wondering if anyone else caught that suggestive line here. Since not, let me be the first!

That is an interesting take. If you remember just before this she apologized to
a man who she bumped while sweeping the floor. Rube says that was no accident.
She sweeps the sawdust to get any gold that might fall to the floor. This is how she gets her gold . The way I took it was she really did accidentally bump Rubes elbow
and he was jokingly giving her a hard time and her response was giving it back to him.
I always thought a poke was a bag or a pocket or a place where men stored things.
I think I might like your interpretation better.

Yes there is. The correct way. Not only did you completely misunderstand the exchange, you invented and interpretation that not only wasn't intended, it makes no sense.

A "poke" is a small bag or sack. Like the sacks everyone kept there gold in. They're called pokes and she was bumping everyone so they'd drop them and hopefully dust would fall out.

As for saying she wouldn't nudge Rube's elbow, she simply meant she would try to swipe any of his gold.

Granted the word "poke" isn't regularly used that way anymore, but it was used regularly years ago.

Attempting to find sexual innuendo there is simply wrong, and a complete misunderstanding. It's not even ambiguous or open to opinion. It's just wrong. No sexual meaning was implied.
