Gay subtext?

I don't think that I'm digging too deep to see something in Walter Brennan's character's love for Stewart's character. They've been together for years, living in close proximity, and dream of having a ranch together in Utah. Add to that, neither show much interest in women.

Just a thought.

Nah. Nothin gay about it at all. A father / son relationship is what I got out of it. Stewart was very attracted to the brunette babe that got killed. He winds up with 'freckle face' unfortunately.

I don't see it as gay either, but I also don't see it as father/son. It's a really weird relationship. It's like the old guy was a feeble child and looked up to Jimmy Stewart. If it was a father/son thing, then Stewart would be the father. The old man having gay feelings actually makes more sense than thinking the independent Stewart character thought of Brennan's as a guiding father figure. But, overall, I just think it's a poorly defined relationship.

Everybody is gay, they just don't know it yet.
