During the scene where Tony takes Mado back to his place, Mado says that she left town for Morocco because Jo was on her tail and things could have gotten ugly. What does she mean by this? I didn't notice anywhere else in the film about any sort of story with Jo and Mado...

I think Tony was having Jo tail Mado while he was in prison. Tony was upset at Mado as she sold all their possessions and moved on not long after he got locked up. Since Tony took the wrap and 5 years in prison, Jo felt it was his duty to watch after Tony's girl while he was away. Mado was fearful of the retribution she might receive for turning her back on Tony at the hands of Jo. So she takes off to Morocco and later comes back with Grutter.
