shareThe street is on the Universal backlot; we saw it on the tour there years ago. Munsters, Cleavers, Welby - they all lived on the same block!

The house today is different than the one used in this film. The current house (built for 'The new Leave it to Beaver' series) is smaller than the original and the new one has been used on Desperate Housewives.
The interior set for this film was a good match for the exterior w/windows and doors matching up perfectly.
The Munsters house is the same one that Beaver Clever thought a witch lived in and was afraid to go there.
shareI noticed it immediately too. It will always stick in my brain as the paradigm of the suburban good life, mom, apple pie and the American way.
shareYes, and that's the problem with watching this movie now. At the time, this was one of the first uses of Universal's backlot, referred to as Colonial Street. But now, in the 21st century, most of us have grown up seeing this backlot used so repeatedly that it's become completely familiar. The dead giveaway to me is the angle of that particular bend in the road and those lampposts. There are just too many productions filmed on Universal's backlot that while watching it, you start thinking of them all.
I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.
