Dreadful

As much as I like Ralph Meeker and John Carradine this movie is truly awful.
Totally unrealistic, bad direction, bad storyline, outdated stereotyped wooden acting, poor pacing and set design it has it all....truly disapointing when I wasn't even looking for much.
I would have to imagine this film didn't help Meekers career esp when judged against his other films during this time....I was totally disapointed.

If you're looking for deep meaning and great cinema this is not your film. But if you like action mixed with tacky, campy, unintentional humor, it most certainly is. Zara's love scenes with Meeker are riotously funny and her brother the Sheikh is a crackup with his country club accent.

I don't hear the "prep school accent" everyone talks about. Larsen's accent sounds like ordinary well-educated American English to me. But, anyway, elite Arab families often sent their sons off to be educated in the West. They went to Britain more often than America, but maybe this guy's uncle (John Carradine, who also sounded entirely American) went to Choate or Phillips Exeter and wanted his nephew to follow in his footsteps. 😀

I think you're taking a silly movie a bit too seriously. In my review of this film I point out the best villain sheikh accent of all. Richard Conte's mafia crime boss schtick in Desert Legion: "Det ta da lejun!"
