Billy Ray Cyrus as Davy Crockett!

Disney should cast Cyrus as the new Davy Crockett. He would be perfect! He looks the part, he can sing, he is from Kentucky, and he works for Disney. Let's get the word out!!

If they cast Billy Ray as Davy Crockett, someone will be dead. The only Davy Crockett in my mind is Fess Parker

Although I detest the current vogue of casting the latest flash-in-the-pan celebrity dejour in films, I have to agree with you that Billy Ray actually would be a very good choice for a modern Davy Crocket (a generation ago I might have suggested Willie Nelson).

The one thing I would caution against is making this new version too hip, young and urban. Don't trade off the gee-whiz-golly aspects of the original for a lot of wise-cracking or hip dialogue.

If there are any songs tobe sung, make them organic to the story; don't just track them in or worse yet, make them MTV video segments.

And do,please, try tomaintain at least some semblence of dignity as far as staging goes. I know that historical accuracy will likely be an afterthought, but they should at least TRY to remember that Davy Crocket was a 1830's woodsman.

Cyrus would never ever compare to Fess but he does have that look about him
