Scruffy looking Volunteer at Alamo

There was a defender who was in a few scenes with Davy he was with him, Travis, Russell and Thimblerig when they swinged the canon around in the final scene. I'm just wondering if his character's name was ever said, my guess just from looking at the cast list it's either Swaney or Henderson.

If any one else knows let me know. It's just been bugging me.

I think the two characters you name are Big Foot Mason's henchmen in the Davy0-Goes-to-Congress segment. (An episode in itself in the original mini-series version.) The character you're thinking of may be the one named "Lafe." He's apparently one of the Tennessee emigres Crockett uses to "fill out" his little "company" when he takes over command of the south wall. He joins Davy in picking off the cannoneers when the Mexicans move up a cannon during the siege.

The only volunteers I recall being named are "Hornbuckle" and "Gutierrez"--the two who move Bowie into the chapel shortly before the attack--and the gunner, "Moriarty." All the volunteers are kind of scruffy looking. In fact, I noticed the last time I saw it that Disney (and I'm using that as shorthand for all the people involved) apparently was under the common misconception that the Alamo was garrisoned almost entirely by frontier scouts and plainsmen, who all wore buckskins and in many cases coonskin caps.

Well I think there were one or two Mexicans in the fort. I think one of Big Foot's henchmen was named Bruno. Yeah the one i was talking about was the guy who was killed just before Russell was.

I think Horbuckle and Gutierrez's "big" scene (where they carry Bowie to the relative safety of the chapel, and Gutierrez tells Bowie that Saint Anthony will look out for him) is cut from the feature-film version. I had forgotten it until I got the DVD with the original episodes that the feature-film was made from.

The guy I was talking about was the guy who during the final battle was with Crockett, Travis, Russell and Thimblerig when they swinged the cannon to fire on the Mexicans who broke down the front gate.

He was also the one who shouted 'THERE ON US!' when the Mexicans were first attacked

I know the guy you mean but I think the actor or the character name is listed anywhere, unless you have access to SAG records.
