If someone went back in time and sang "The Ballad Of Davy Crockett", to the REAL DAVID CROCKETT, Do you think David would have shot him?

Probably not. He didn't like being called "Davy", he prefered David. However, he was well aware of his own legend. There was even a popular play called "The Lion Of The West" featuring a Crockett parody known as 'Colonel Nimrod Wildfire'. The real Crockett seemed to love the legend built up around him, though he never really wore a coon skin cap in real life, he would wear it as an image kind of thing.
