no young person today could imagine how BIG this was. . .

Nothing could be BIG like this anymore as our culture (and in particular, our popular culture) has become so fractured. But back then, oh, boy, EVERYONE, that is, boys, had to have some Davy Crockett paraphernalia of one kind or another, a belt, a coonskin cap,(expensive!) a rifle, a pistol, anything!

And on Sunday night, the WORLD STOPPED.

What a shame our society has so degenerated to such a low state.

It's a pity the kids couldn't learn history watching this show. It was just entertainment.

Actually, it was Wednesday night. As a 6 year old, it was a big deal to get to stay up till 8:30.

Culture today, gay weddings, religious terrorism, political corruptness, decline of moral values, one parent families in poverty levels of the 1930s. Where are the idols? What happened to America? Corrupt leadership from the top & the greed to go along.

DAVY CROCKETT, at the center of the American Decade at the center of the American Century, was essentially the start of mass-marketing stuff to kids. By the end of the '50s and the '60s, this had become commonplace, as it still is.

But in 1955, it was new and huge!

Gay weddings are the same problem for you that terrorism is? Wowza.
