Honest Opinions

Good evening, all. I am here because I have just purchased this movie from Amazon, and I have never seen it before. I don't normally buy without previewing, but since I love Fred Astaire and from the one movie I saw her in, I like Leslie Caron, too. So, because I'm sure those of you who will read this probably share many of the same tastes as I, what do you think of this movie, and do you think I made a good decision to purchase?

It's a really good movie, with great dancing, singing, fun, and an amazing Johnny Mercer score.
Leslie Caron lights up the screen and Fred Astaire dances up a perfect storm! I think you made a good decision to purchase if you like Fred Astaire, although this movie is a little old-fashioned. (Yes, I know it's from 1955, but I mean that it was old-fashioned when it came out, as a look at Astaire's outdated suits will tell you). It feels like the movies made thirty years earlier, aside from the girls' fashions (and most of the men too, except Fred) and the choral style.
HOWEVER, I only give this film a five out of ten rating, since the relationship that Fred sets up with Leslie seems (spoiler alert) extremely perverted.

I know this is an old thread...surprised it hasn't been mentioned, (I haven't read ALL of it)But Fred's last wife was 43 when he died at 88, meaning she married him when she was 36 and he was already 80

btw, I love the Groucho Marx quote!

Thank you. I got to see the movie today, and I really enjoyed it. In fact, I watched it twice, back to back! I'm very pleased that I bought it, always appreciative of Fred Astaire.

On the second posting, this is one of my favorite Groucho quotes. My other favorite was on Jaws when he said it would have been funnier if a guppy had swallowed the boat instead of a shark.
I tried to find a Harpo quote, but, alas, this is all I could find: "."

Alright, that's going in my yearbook under inspirational quotes:
